2004-2005 EEO Public File Report Radio Station WPNA, Oak Park, Illinois
This Equal Employment Opportunity (“EEO”) Report has been prepared on behalf of Station WPNA (AM), Oak Park, Illinois, and has been placed in the WPNA local public inspection file and on the WPNA website in compliance with FCC rules.
The information contained in this Report covers the time period beginning July 27, 2004, to and including July 31, 2005 (the “Applicable Period”).
The FCC’s EEO rule requires that this Report contain the following information:
1. A list of all full-time vacancies filled by WPNA during the Applicable Period. (See Appendix 1);
2. For each such vacancy, the recruitment source(s) utilized to fill the vacancy (including, if applicable, organizations entitled to notification pursuant to Section 73.2080(c)(1)(ii) of the FCC’s rules, which are to be separately identified), identified by name, address, contact person and telephone number. (See Appendix 2);
3. The recruitment source that referred the hiree for each full-time vacancy during the Applicable Period. (See Appendix 1);
4. Data reflecting the total number of persons interviewed for full-time vacancies during the Applicable Period (See Appendix 1) and the total number of interviewees referred by each recruitment source utilized in connection with such vacancies. (See Appendix 2); and
5. A list and brief description of outreach and recruitment initiatives undertaken by Station WPNA pursuant to Section 73.2080(c)(2) of the FCC’s rules. (See Appendix 3).

Outreach Initiatives Undertaken
On September 16, 2004, WPNA co-sponsored a West Suburban Career Fair with AACF (African American Christian Foundation) Suburban Career Center of Oak Park, Illinois, and The Illinois Employment and Training Center of Maywood. This event was attended by WPNA Assistant Chief Operator-John Gorny, who discussed career opportunities in broadcasting and accepted employment applications from interested Career Fair attendees.
On December 1, 2004, WPNA Chief Operator-Alan Kearns, attended a Job/Career Fair at Illinois Center for Broadcasting in Lombard, Illinois. During this event Mr. Kearns, discussed career opportunities in broadcasting and accepted employment applications from interested Job/Career Fair attendees.
On April 8, 2005, WPNA Chief Operator-Alan Kearns, attended a Job Fair at Joliet Junior College in Joliet, Illinois. During this event Mr. Kearns, discussed career opportunities in broadcasting and accepted employment applications from interested Job Fair attendees.
On July 29, 2005, WPNA Assistant Chief Operator-John Gorny, attended a Disability Job Fair at The Chicago Workforce Center in Chicago, Illinois. This event targeted people with disabilities who need employment in the Pilsen neighborhood. During this event Mr. Gorny, discussed career opportunities in broadcasting and accepted employment applications from interested Disability Job Fair attendees.
WPNA personnel provided tours of the stations offices and studios to student groups (Scouts) in September 2004 and February 2005, during which time the students were provided information about different jobs in broadcasting and what it takes educationally for a career in the broadcast field.
WPNA maintains a “Recruitment Alert” page posted on its website inviting interested organizations that wish to be notified of job vacancies at WPNA to contact the station. |
